1930s Matchbook Lion Match Co., Los Angeles This was probably produced in 1938 or 1939. Lion Match Co. had customers in San Diego, where Worden was based between September 1935 and October 1939. The manufacturer’s name features a distinctive large C with a small o nested inside (similar to Ͼ), plus the suffix “Inc.”; the March 2008 edition of the Sierra-Diablo Matchcover Club’s newsletter indicates that Lion used this logo from 1938 to 1958. However, Worden was reassigned to Hawaii in October 1939, thus placing the date of manufacture in 1938 or 1939.
