J.W. Childs Interview
Electrician’s Mate Second Class J.W. Childs joined the Navy at age 16 and served aboard the battleship West Virginia from August 1941 to the Pearl Harbor raid, followed by Worden from 8 December 1941 to Amchitka, then the Fletcher-class destroyer Trathen, and finally the Haskell-class attack transport Bland.
J.W. Childs died at age 91 on 12 July 2015. The interview was conducted in 2007 by Jeffrey Meek for the Daughters of the American Revolution chapter in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
