U.S.S. WORDEN

Constantine Harbor

Amchitka Island, Alaska

Interactive chart, 2004

Worden ran aground in the small rocks and kelp bed just north of the violet “LOCAL MAGNETIC DISTURBANCE” label, southeast of Kirilof Point at roughly 51°24'35" North, 179°18'20" East. The wreckage, which drifted slightly to the northwest before sinking, is unmarked, and the entire island is off limits because of nuclear testing that ended in the 1970s. See also the interactive hand-drawn chart of the wreck site with course and positions plotted.
